Must Have Mondays - Stampin' UP! Parties!

Party pictures

Hi Everyone! Yesterday I had a fun, fun Stampin' UP! party hosted by my friend Sue. Her new home is lovely!! Above are the projects we made. I CASED 3 of the 4 projects. Dawn Griffiths' recent projects of the candy cane holder and the nugget holder (the one with the little bow). The Falala card was inspired by Ann Clements gift card holder using the Mini Treat bag. They were such awesome projects, I knew the gals would like making them.

Stampin' UP! parties make my Must Have Mondays because they are a great way to try out a few products...risk free so to speak!

My project was a game that you can play with your family this holiday season. The Naughty or Nice game!

Tiny Treat Boxes

How to make the boxes: Use Tiny Treat Boxes (get 25 in a pack). Cut (4) 1-3/4" x 1-3/4" square pieces of Home For Christmas Designer Series Paper for each box. Add Real Red Pompom Trim and a bow made with Real Red Cardstock and the Bow Builder Punch. Add either a Nice treat (peppermints) or a Naughty treat (candy coal).

How to play the game: Make up an assortment of naughty filled and nice filled boxes. Put them on a tray or in a basket. Have your guest pick a box then open to determine if they were on the Naughty or Nice list!

These little Tiny Treat Boxes are a 2" x 2" size and perfect for all kinds of little goodies or gifts and for party games!

(You don't have to live nearby if you want me to help you with a Stampin' UP! party..email me if you would like to coordinate something like this with your family and friends! deeslater@ymail.com)

I got the candy at Walmart :)

Must Have Mondays - Stampin' Emboss Powders

Happy Scenes
Happy Scenes & Wonderland Stamp Sets

Hi Everyone! This week's Must Have Mondays is Stampin' Emboss Powders. Emboss powders turn stamped images into glossy raised designs. What that means for me and is shown in the card above is that you can add color on top of other colors! Like white snowflakes on a dark winter's night! White craft ink is okay, but it isn't as distinct as when you use White Stampin' Emboss Powder! The technique or usage is called heat embossing.

Steps to heat embossing:
Wipe surface with the Embosssing Buddy to remove static from your surface (powder won't stick).
Stamp image with VersaMark ink.
Sprinkle emboss powder over top of inked image and tap off excess.
Activate and set emboss powder with the Heat Tool. (Hairdryers will not work and not safe to use in this application.)

This card was my November Team (my team the Designer Paper Dolls) swap card. The snowflakes and Silent Night sentiment heat embossed.

Must Have Mondays - Value Finds for Gifts

  DSCN5762
Hi Everyone! A must have for me over the holidays is finding small stocking stuffers items that I can turn into a mini presents. Multi packs of lip balm and nail polish in holiday themes always check my eye. I look for them at Dollar Tree, Dollar General, WalMart, CVS and WalGreens. This set came from Dollar General. For me, I love giving gifts this way. So much more fun to pull out a bagged gift from a stocking then just the nail polish! And now I have 8 (I bought 2 packs) stocking stuffers or small gifts or thank you's ready to go!
DSCN5763Really just too cute to pass up!

Must Have Mondays - Circle Punches & Apple Punch Art Tutorial

Apple Punch ArtHi Everyone! My home PC has gotten new life and I should be good-to-go again...yeah! I hate to admit it, but I struggled using hubby's new laptop. The left and right click areas blended in with the area to move the mouse around and I couldn't get it to react that way I needed. (giggle) why do they all have to be SO different? hahaha

Today's Must Have Mondays is circle punches. Which ones? all :) Purchase them over time until you have all sizes. Circle punches are great as you can use them to punch out images and sentiment and layer them unto your projects for interest. Also used in treat boxes to create holding space for K-Cups (project shown above and see the post on how to make here). They are also key shapes to punch art.

The 1-3/4" Circle Punch was used for both the apple punch art in this project. It's a great size to get started on a circle punch collection! My punch is the old style from Stampin' UP!

To make the Apple Punch Art - use the template below to make your apple shapes. Take the White Gel Pen to make a highlight.

Must Have Monday's - Festive Flower Builder Punch

DSCN5671Hi Everyone! What a fun weekend I had..my BFF Joan visited from Ohio and we attended our local fall festival called Apple Festival. Friends, fun, food and crafts..doesn't get much better than that in my world!

This week's Must Have Monday's is the Festive Flower Builder Punch. While definitely a poinsettia flower, I'll be showing different looks this week so you can see it can go beyond the winter season.

The sentiment is from Reason for the Season Photopolyer stamp set. Save 15% when you purchase the bundle of the stamp set and Festive Flower Builder Punch!

DSCN5675I punched out 4 sets of petals using RED Glimmer Paper. Sparkly goodness in the Glimmer Paper. I folded each petal in half (right sides together) to form a crease for more dimension. I recommend hot glue when layering glimmer paper.

Steps for the Festive Flower Punch Glimmer Paper Poinsettia:

  • With Real Red Card Stock, punch a 1" circle and a 3/4" circle for petal bases.
  • Fold each petal in half  right sides together. Hot glue largest petals in a north, south, east, west fashion using the 1" circle punch as base.
  • With the 3/4" circle, repeat with the medium petals. Add the smaller connected petals on top. Hot glue layers together.
  • With Daffodil Delight scrap - punch 2 centers and add with hot glue.

DSCN5672

General Steps for the rest of project:

  • Punch 2" banner from Triple Banner Punch.
  • Stamp sentiment in Real Red Classic Ink.
  • Stamp outline of poinsettia image in Tuxedo Black Ink.
  • 2-Step stamp (stamp over top of image) of flower in Real Red.
  • 2-Step stamp leaves in Soft Sky ink.
  • Sponge color around (see my Tuesday Tip tomorrow!)
  • Cut a 1-1/2" Strip of Home For Christmas and wrap around Square Pillow Box die cut using Soft Sky Cardstock. Add banner and flower.

This is now all ready to go for a gift card, treats, or a small gift!

TIP! If you want a super flower - punch out 6-8 sets of petals!

Must Have Mondays & Tuesday Tips- Among the Branches Photopolyer Bundle

Among The BranchesHi Everyone! I'm starting a new Monday theme called Must Have Mondays! Followed up by Tuesday Tips!  These are products that have that little extra something. Maybe it's extra value, extra functionality, extra WOW factor etc...!

Our home laptops have been having issues for WEEKS! First mine then Jeff's. Yesterday, we FINALLY got one replaced. YIPPEE that means I can finally steady post again. So I know it's Tuesday, but I wanted to share the Must Have Monday item too! LOL

Above are my October In-Person Card Class samples. It uses each of the season images! Perfect for this time of year of course!  And it also features this week's Tuesday Tips! more on that later. Below are each of the cards up close.

Among The Branches Photopolymer Bundle is this week's Must Have Mondays spotlight. Three words:

ARE YOU SERIOUS? Love the Woodland Textured Embossing Folder and the images in Among the Branches are made specifically to work with the folder.

First is Autumn Wishes sentiment- to get this look, take your Sponge Dauber and apply ink directly onto the embossing folder. Insert your card stock and emboss through the Big Shot. This will give you the background color and the trees will pop forward. Then I took the stamps and stamped images on top of the embossed cardstock. (Tip! - I used fall leaf colors here - but using all green leaves clustered on a branch would give you a spring look!)

Autum Wishes Among the BranchesNext is the Spooky sentiment for Halloween! This time, emboss your Basic Black Cardstock, then take the Sponge Dauber using Whisper White Craft Ink and highlight the tree trunks and branches.

Spooky Amoung the BranchesAnd I did the same - inking after embossing to the Making Spirits Bright Sentiment. Soft Sky Classic ink used. Also stamped the snowflakes in the background after embossing.

Making Spirits Bright Amoung the Branches

Now for our TUESDAY TIP! Fine Tip Glue Pen - OMGoodness! A pin drop of glue. Great for intricate die cut shapes like the Butterfly Thinlits or Delicate Ornaments Dies. Or like I've used here - to add small areas of Stampin' Glitter! Below you will notice the centers of the snowflakes sparkle with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter. So tiny! but with the Fine Tip Glue Pen you can achieve the look.

TIP! - squeeze EVER SO GENTLY. A light touch is all you need. You'll notice on the Autumn card - a got a few blobs! I like it but that's what happened when I squeezed too much. Also - make sure to store and work with it upright.

Fine Tip Glue PenI did use the Fine Tip Glue Pen and either Dazzling Diamonds or Gold Stampin' Glitter on each card.

My opinion - the Must Have Mondays' Among the Branches is one of those versital bundles that covers several holidays and seasons PLUS the Woodland Textured Embossing Folder is..well timeless! Great Value.
