The Open Sea - 2 Looks

P1060001Hi Everyone! Today's post is a two-fer :) I had so much fun playing with the images with The Open Sea ( wood mount 123030, clear mount 123032) The set is in the Summer Mini. I used Cherry Cobbler 119669 and Not Quite Navy 103008 ink (both are in the Regals Collection Stampin' Spots 119713). I first stamped all images with Not Quite Navy, then with Cherry Cobble. I then either trimmed or punched out the images for a double set.

P1060002  Other stamp sets used: Wonder Favorites 115114 (father stamp),  and In a Word (journey stamp)
Cardstock: Sahara Sand 121043, Cherry Cobbler 119685, Not Quite Navy 101722
Accessories: Bakers Twin in Cherry Cobble/White in the Summer Mini 123125, Linen Thread 104199
Tools: Sponge Dauber 102892, 2-1/2" Circle Punch, 2" x 1-3/8" Oval punch 119859, 1-1/4" Circle Punch 119861

The images can be used for a variety of card themes, especially with a masculine feel. (we all seem to struggle finding a masculine stamp set to have on hand!) Uses for birthday, graduation, father's day, someone who is in or has served in the navy.

P1060004 The images also lend themselves as background images as shown in the this card.
To make the background, ink image stamp, and stamp again without reinking.

I heavily sponge inked around the card base and images. Tear and crinkle accenting cardstock.

Family Share - Congrats to Nephew Kyle

Kyles grad
Hi Everyone! Quick family share. My nephew Kyle graduated from college last weekend from DePauw University. His first job post-college will be with Eli Lilly!!! OMGoodness I couldn't be more happy and proud of him.  Shown above from left to right is my ex-brother-in-law Mike,  Kyle (isn't he a handsome young man...I might be a tad bias lol!), and my sister Karla. Kyle and I share middle sibling sagas with each other. I often say Kyle could have been mine as we have the same nose and much of the same personality! Love ya Kyle!

We have 4 graduations in the family this year. Besides Kyle, there is niece Micaela, nephew Nic and step-niece Catelyn all graduating from high school. What a milestone in one's life!

Graduation Hat Gift Container - I can paper craft that!

Hi Everyone! Here's a graduation hat gift holder that is made from an empty brad container. OMGoodness...this doesn't get any easier and you will be getting lots of "oos and ahs" out of this one! The instructions took longer to type than it did to make ;) lol

Items needed:P1050851
Empty round SU brad container
Black card stock
Antique Brad
Tombo glue - use on everything...the chip board and plastic container.
3x3 chip board or card board - like what comes with the designer paper packs or you could even use a cereal or craker box
Tassle (got at local fabric store)
2 1/2" Circle Punch

How to make:
For bottom: Wrap 8 ½” x 5/8” strip of black card stock around sides using Tombo glue. If needed (I didn’t) keep ends in place with paperclip until dried.

For Hat lid:P1050852
Cut chip board (cardboard) to 3” x 3” square
Cut (2) two 3”x 3” squares out of black card stock
Optional - Punch 2 ½” circle out of black card stock
Optional black Sharpie Marker

With side of black ink pad, ink edges or use marker on chip board if you want to make sure all black. P1050854
Adhere one of black squares on top of chip board. With paper piercer, make hole in center. Put brad through and open brad wing underneath. Wrap tassel around top of brad.

Cover bottom side of hat with 2nd black square. This covers brad. The brad is never seen anyway but this is my habit…to cover the brad!

If you have any chipboard still showing between the black card stock layers – you can color in with marker or ink edges with ink pad.  P1050855

Option – punch circle and cover inside of lid. This would give you an optional place to put a stamped image or sentiment, too! You could stamp on the bottom wrap before adhering as well.

Tuck inside a little gift, money or check!
