Designer Button Flowers

Hi Everyone! As mentioned yesterday, Joan and I crafted over the weekend. She found this idea on Pinterest. It's a button flower pin or embellishment!! Stampin' UP! Designer Buttons make finding the same size and color family buttons for this project soooo easy. You will need 2 packs of buttons as you need 5 'petals'. (The Desinger Buttons have 4 each of 3 designs in 6 colors. While 72 buttons come in the container - if you want 5 the same you'll need 2 containers.) The break down per button price is about $0.15 (includes factoring shipping & tax). So the smaller flowers shown cost about $1.05 in button cost to make! Too cute!

So if you have any left over Big or Extra Big Designer Buttons from previous minis, here's a project for them!

How to make the Designer Button Flowers

Materials:
*2 packs/containers of Designer Buttons - Brights Designer Buttons 119747 used to make smaller flowers
**FYI - some larger sized Designer Buttons are still on the Clearance Rack! Holly Berry, Springtime Vintage and Sweet Stitches are all Big Designer Buttons. Check out the Clearance Rack!
The really super big middle button was from Spice Cake Extra Big Designer Buttons last Holiday Mini.

*Crystal Effects - it works GREAT as an adhesive!!! The orginal instructions called for a glue that needed ventilation to use.

*Pin back from hobby store.

Assembly - smooth side up (typically back side of button) to form 5 petals. With larger button that is your center, apply Crystal Effects on back of middle button making sure to cover outer edges. That will be the part that touches the five petals the most. Place on petal buttons. Add Crystal Effects to top button. Let dry several hours (I like to let dry overnight) When completely dry, add crystal effects or hot glue to pin and attach on back of your Designer Button Flower.

For the larger flower - you will need to use a felt backing with the pin. Here are some close-up!
