Double Dutch Fold Card - Christmas in July Card

DSCN5420Hi Everyone! As you can tell by now, I'm getting a lot of mileage from the Merry Moments Designer Series Paper as well as the coordinating Merry Moments Cardstock Assorted Pack! Here's a new-to-me fold card called the Double Dutch Fold Card.

  • One 4 1/8" x 9" piece of cardstock for card base
Score along the 9" side at 5-1/2:
  • One 2" x 8 1/2" piece of cardstock for dutch fold bottom
    Score along the 8 1/2" side at 2 1/8" & 6 3/8"

DSCN5440Adhere the 2 x 8 1/2 strip onto the backside (shown above).

DSCN5438TIP! - you may have to slightly trim your card base so the bottom 2" strip lines up. No biggie :) Just trim it down so the flaps meet.

DSCN5437My card does fold complete flat - after I used the bone folder to reinforce the folds.

The layering elements:

Card front:
Cherry Cobbler card stock 4" x 3-1/4"
Merry Moments Designer Paper 3 3/4" x 3"
Lots of Labels Framelits used to make embellishment (largest 3)
Small bottom flap panels:
Cherry Cobbler Cardstock 1-7/8" x 1-3/4"
Merry Moments Designer Paper 1-5/8" x 1-1/2"

Christmas in July - Spritz the Glitz! Spritz Bottles, Ink Refills and Glimmer Paper

DSCN5417Hi Everyone! Work's done it to me again :) So my "Christmas in July Week" is turning into just Christmas in July lol.

OMGoodness...if you want to add glitz and glam to any project, add the following to your stampin' stash of accessories:

  • Stampin' Spritzer 126185  - you get 2 for $3
  • Dazzling Diamond Glimmer Paper 135315 - you get 2 sheets for $5 **this is glimmer paper like non other. The glitter is embedded so glitter won't brush off. Seriously you have to try it and compare to the 'sale' brands!
  • Ink Refills - shown above in Old Olive. You'll want ink refills JUST for your spritzers!

Quick thank you to my downline Davette Miller for showing us at Stamp-a-palooza how easy it is to add this glam to any project.

AND all my EASY MONTHLY CLUB orders last time will receive a SPRITZER and GLIMMER PAPER sampler!!! They will ship out July 20th (Click here to learn more about my Easy Monthly Club!)

DSCN5416Here it is on our Merry Moments Card bases shown a few post ago. I didn't even think it needed a sentiment on the outside of the card! (reminder we are making in bulk!).

Working with Spritzers and  Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper:

Tip 1: Punch or Die Cut shape first - Once the Glimmer Paper is Spritzed it gets stiffer and more difficult to cut.

Tip 2: You can use either water or rubbing alcohol. Water will make it a softer and lighter tint. Rubbing alcohol will be it more vibrant. In the picture - the lighter ones were spritzed with water and the darker with Rubbing alcohol.

How many ink refill drops? That's up to you! Good rule of thumb is to start out with less drops as you can always add more to intensify the color. Ok to re-spritz! I was spritzing a lot of trees so I filled up 1/2 way with rubbing alcohol and about 7 drops of ink. Tip! find other shapes to spritz using your left over color! You can spritz on  paper too using Decorative Masks.

(big smile) WARNING - this is addictive and if you think you will like this, I would recommend ordering several spritzers and reinkers at once.

Here's my progression using the water formula:

Punch out trees - note how you can use both directions of tree image to maximize your strip of glimmer paper!

DSCN5406Next, grab your Stampin' UP! box your goodies were shipped in. You will need a spritz box to protect your work surface and surrounding areas. Spritz away! If all images same color - spritz all at once. The water base is wetter (I know..dah!) - alcohol base dries almost on contact and not as messy.

Christmas in July Week - Project 2: Punch Art Snowman

Punch Art SnowmanHi Everyone! Taking one the card bases from yesterday's post, I added a Punch Art Snowman to make today's Christmas in July inspiration. It has 2 new punches - the 1-1/2" Circle Punch (oh THANK YOU SU! - this size was missing!) and the Tree Builder Punch for his stick arms.

Snowman Punches used: Tree Builder, 1-1/2" Circle, 1-3/4" Circle
Sentiment Punch - Decorative Label.

General instructions:

For the snowman: Punch branches with scrap Early Espresso cardstock. Punch circles out of Whisper White cardstock. Lightly sponge around the edges with Early Espresso Ink.
Draw face using Stampin' Write Markers of Basic Black and Pumpkin Pie. With pink ink - circle sponge dauber the cheeks. Add 3 circles using the White Gel Pen. Assemble snowman. Add Neutral Collection Candy Dots for buttons. Add Dazzling Details around the snowman - allow to dry completely before handling.

Take a piece of 3"x 2" Smokey Slate and emboss with Stylish Stripes embossing folder. With Stampin' Dimensionals, layer unto a piece of 3-1/4" x 2-1/4" Old Olive.

Stamp sentiment and punch out with Decorative Label Punch. With same punch, punch out 2 shapes with Cherry Cobbler card stock. Cut one in half vertical and cut the other in half horizontal. Layer behind sentiment.

Christmas in July Week! Project 1: 12 Christmas Card Bases

Hi Everyone! Let's have some fun with Christmas in July! From today through next Wednesday, we'll have a week of inspiration to get us started on our holiday planning.

CARD BASES ONLY - that ready for stamped images. For the last 2 years..I have been TERRIBLE at getting my cards out!!! Right?! Me of all people (smile). I'm busy teaching classes but did not take the time to mass produce my cards. PROBLEM SOLVED! With a few coordinating supplies - we can make early CARD BASES!

Make card bases one night as in this example - add images another. Check back this week as I'll add some stamped images to this set of card bases!

What you need to get started:
Merry Moments Designer Series Paper
Merry Moments Cardstock Assorted Pack
Whisper White Cardstock
Ink for future, coordinating stamping- Classic Ink Pads:
Cherry Cobbler (and/or Real Red)
Old Olive (and/or Mossy Meadow)
The Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive are the colors in the Merry Moments Assorted pack.

For added sparkle - you can get Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper, a Stampin' Spritzer and Old Olive Reink. Since we can purchase Real Red Glimmer Paper and Silver Glimmer Paper..we don't need a spritzer to color. I did add Smokey Slate Refill to the list below if you wanted to sub out the Silver Glimmer Paper.

The card bases took me about 40 minutes to assemble. Here are the cuts!

(1) each of cardstock Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Smokey Slate. Cut each into 4 sections:
4" x 5-1/4" Total of 4 each of 3 colors or 12 pieces. NOTE Keep the 1/4" strips as they will be used as accents later on.

(6) each Whisper White cardstock cut in half for a total of (12) 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" card bases.

Take 6 different sheet designs of Merry Moments Designer Paper. With each sheet - cut off a 3-3/4" x 12" strip. Take that strip and trim to 3-3/4" x 10" (take 2" off - keep scrap for later) Trim that in half to make (2) 3-3/4 x 5" strips. Do that with each sheet for a total of (12) 3-3/4" x 5" pieces. (2 each of 6 designer sheets = 12)

With each designer paper piece - cut 1-3/4" off bottom - see photo.

Lay out your card base pieces. Now's the fun part - switch out or trade the bottom pieces to form different paper layouts! Don't forget they are 2 sided so flip flop around until you get a combo you like!

Remember those 1/4 cardstock strips I said to save..they work perfectly for a transition strip between the designer paper!

Fold your card bases and adhere the layers. Now you have 12 Christmas card bases done and ready for a quick stamped image or sentiment. Note on the top picture that you can play with the orientation of the card too. What's great about Merry Moments is they work great for Thank You's and winter birthdays too! The plaid side makes for good masculine cards...oh the choices! ;)

AND once last have TONS of product left. If you use the remainder of the designer sheet you - you can make 36 Christmas cards! Plenty of designer paper left for other holiday crafts that would coordinate with your cards :)
