March 2016 Team Swap Cards Spring Theme

Designer Paper Dolls Swap
March 2016 Designer Paper Dolls Swap Cards

Hi Everyone! I'm so happy to share with you the Designer Paper Dolls' March 2016 swap cards with a Spring theme! Sue (Welcome Sue! she's the newest DPD!), Summer and Davette (cards left to right) all made such AWESOME cards. Let's take a closer look!

Sue Handshoe's Swap Card

Sue used Sheltering Tree and Happy Scenes stamp sets to create this card. So clever to use the smaller tree image from Happy Scenes to give dimension to the landscape! And cute birds getting settled in for the season.

Summer Moser's Swap Card

Summer used Sprinkles of Like stamp set (This year's Ronald McDonald's House charity stamp set. $3 donated by Stampin' UP! for every stamp set sold. Spring showers are needed for flowers to grow...look for the silver lining! Love this card!

Davette Miller's Swap Card

Davette's swap card uses Picture Perfect, Birthday Blossoms and the branch from Joyful Christmas (I think that's the name) a retired stamp set from last Holiday Catalog. The hummingbird is from Picture Perfect, a 2-step stamp set. The bird is actually a 4 step. Davette's tip was to start with #4 the beak, then 1-3. The stamps are numbered! Such a very pretty spring card!

Stamping the inside is optional. It can help tie in the look of the card. But sometimes, it nice just to leave it blank so it can be filled with a longer, personal message. Thanks for sharing your talents girls! Love them all!! If you would like to join us, please consider joining my team, the Designer Paper Dolls! Click here if interested!

Happy Home and Work of Art Card - My Team Swap

Happy Home, Work of Art, Stampin' UP
Hi Everyone! Here's my March's Team Swap Card. Our theme this month was SPRING! I'll show you the Designer Paper Dolls swap cards tomorrow!

Work of Art stamp set is awesome to provide a watercolor feel to images without actually having to watercolor! I stamped the images with Archival Black Ink - let it dry just a minute - then stamped with Work of Art to make the sky, tress, grass and even the sun!

To get the fading color look, I stamped 2 or 3 times WITHOUT reinking. And the beauty of it is, you don't have to worry about lining anything up!

DSCN5929Carry over the look of the outside to the inside sentiment. I think this is such a cute pick-me-up card to remind someone they are special and unique.

DSCN5930And of course, no naked envelopes! I stamped coordinated images on the front of the envelope.

General Instructions. Die cut from Whisper White the rectangle from Project Life Framelits. Stamp Happy Home images with Archival Black Ink. Let dry about a minute. With different stamps from Work of Art, stamp sky with Soft Sky, grass with Pear Pizzaz, the tree with Wild Wasabi, and the sun with Daffodil Delight.

Happiest of Birthday Card

Stampin' UP! Birthday CardHi Everyone! This was my card creation on a card challenge where a color combo was given and we have a time limit to make. FUN! The only difference is I added some rhinestone bling!

DSCN5923A little fun stamping on the inside too!

(Again!) I'm showing the cardstock as the Neutral Collection to show how you can bring in a variety of cardstock colors without having to purchase each color separately if you wanted that option! You could do the same with Crushed Curry by choosing the Regals Collection Cardstock pack.

General Instructions: Using Deco Labels Framelits Dies, die cut shapes using Basic Black Cardstock and Have a Cuppa Designer Paper. Stamp sentiment and punch out with circle punch.

Emboss a 3-3/4" x " Basic Gray Cardstock with the Decorative Dots Embossing folder. Layer on 4" x 5-1/4" Crushed Curry Cardstock and add to Basic Black card base 8-1/2" x 5-1/2".

Cut 1" strips of designer paper and make banner tails using banner punch.

Using the Curvy Trio Punch, punch corners on 4" x 5-1/4" Whisper White layer for inside of card. Add stamping.

Easter Treat Cones using Polka Dot Cellophane Bags

DSCN5916Hi Everyone! I've been hesitant to post this because the Polka Dot Cellophane Bags are on backorder until March 28th. AFTER Easter..bummer! But just in case you did get them's a few ways to fill them for Easter.

  • Goldfish Crackers
  • Easter grass and $1 candy from either Walmart or Dollar Tree
  • Cheese Popcorn - LOL which if you do, fill bottom with grass as the popcorn is too big to get down the bag far enough for my taste!

Other fillers that work great: M&M's (plain fills better than peanuts), jelly beans and any smaller candy.

While Easter treats are this season, I can't wait to use them for drink mix gifts like hot chocolate, cappuccino mixes etc!

I DO HAVE about 3 extra packs. EMAIL ME at and we'll work out the details!

I also tied the top with Linen Tread then tied a Cucumber Crush Ribbon!

Z-Fold with a Twist Spring Card

Birthday Bouquet, Elegant Butterfly Punch

Hi Everyone! This twist on a Z-fold  came from my stampin' friend Dawn Griffith. Hers had a birthday theme. It inspired me to try a spring version!

DSCN5905When closed, it fits in a standard envelope. I love any card designs that stand upright for display so you and others can admire them! Window Sheet strips hold up the butterflies. I did 3, but you can make as many as you wish! Use different height strips to add interest to your card. The last butterfly I could see it's back side and the glue dot that holds it in place, so I made another butterfly and he's finished both sides.

Z-Fold card base: Pool Party Cardstock 4-1/4"  x11". Score along the 11" side at 2-3/4" and 5-1/2:
The connecting strip is Pool Party Cardstock  1" x 11" Score along the 11" side at 5-1/2" and 8-1/4:

Front Panel: Blushing Bride Cardstock 2-1/2" x 4", Birthday Bouquet Designer Paper 2-1/4" x 3-3/4"

Inside Blushing Bride Cardstock 4" x 5-1/4"

General Instructions:

  •  Make Z-Fold Card Base. Add front and inside panels.
  • Add the connecting strip. Apply Fast Fuse on the front panel on the card base where you want the strip to go (DO NOT ADD TO STRIP - add adhesive to card base. Align it to the edge of the base. Add Fast Fuse to the 2-3/4" section (last section of the strip). Line up to the inside right side of card base. See photos above.
  • Cut (3) ~ 1/4" x 3" strip of Window Sheets for butterflies. Use Glue Dot to adhere to back side of strip. (can trim down later)
  • Punch (4) butterflies out of scrap Birthday Bouquet Designer Paper with the Elegant Butterfly Punch. Punch (4) smaller butterflies from scrap cardstock using the Bitty Butterfly Punch. Layer and add Basic Pearl Gems.
  • Use Glue Dots to add butterflies to window sheets. If you want different heights, trim down window sheets prior to adding butterflies.
  • For mine, my 3rd butterfly's back and the glue dot was showing - use your 4th butterfly to cover 'back' side of butterfly to hide the glue dot.
  • Stamp sentiment from Circle of Spring. Die cut using the label from Rose Garden Thinlit Set. Stamp dots and add flowers. Add to inside of card.
  • With scraps of Mossy Meadow Cardstock, punch leaves from Bird Builder Punch. Punch flowers and add to card front.

Circle of Spring Easter Card

Circle of SpringHi Everyone! I purchased Circle of Spring stamp set last June and this is my first time using! I got because it's the other 2 seasons (spring & summer) that coordinated with Wonderful Wreath Framelits! I don't mind confessing as it was waiting for  me when I needed it! This card is one that we will be making in my March card class for local stampers.

Circle of Spring, Stampin' Write MarkersI stamped the wreath in Old Olive then used my Subtle Collections Stampin' Write Markers to color in the flowers and most leaves. On the picture below, I brushed the flowers, wreath and sentiment with Clear Wink of Stella.

Wink of Stella

The background uses Brick Wall Textured Embossing Folder and I used a Sponge Dauber with Pool Party ink to highlight the brick.

Stamp bow image with Old Olive on scrap of So Saffron Cardstock and die cut with coordinating die from Wonderful Wreath. Stamp sentiment with Old Olive ink and punch out with 1" Circle Punch. Layer with 1-1/4" Scallop Circle Punch with Blushing Bride cardstock.

TIP! I used the Birthday Bouquet Cardstock Pack and will use it in tomorrow post as well.

Team Swaps - Easter Punch Art

DSCN5879Hi Everyone! Here are the Designer Paper Dolls' (my team) Easter Punch Art February Swap Cards. Themes are given but the Dolls can make whatever they wish. Love them! Showcasing from left to right then front.

Nancy Taylor's Swap Card

Nancy's sheep is soooo cute! She left the sentiment out because she wanted us to use for Easter or possible a baby shower card! She used the 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch, Word Window Punch (legs), 3/4" Circle Punch for face and ears and a flower for the top. Love the embossed body!

Davette Miller's Swap 3-D

Davette made us some 3-D Easter goodies with a Bunny wrapped juice box AND the filled Polka Dot Cellophane Cone above filled with goldfish crackers. SUCH a CLEVER idea to wrap a juice box! She used (retired) Heart Collection Framelits, Leaf Framelits or dies for ears, 3/4" Circle Punch for cheeks, and the heart from Itty Bitty Punch Pack. Love the eyes...SO DETAILED!

Linda Leighty's Swap Card

Linda's GORGEOUS Easter Card uses the Elegant Butterfly and Bittty Butterfly Punches over a retired leaf die and leaf punch from another vendor. She heat embossed the sentiment on Oval Framelits layer. Background layer embossed with retired Polka Dot folder. It's a WOW card for sure!

Summer Moser's Swap Tag

Summer's Easter tag is the epitome of stinkin' cute! 1-1/2" Circle Punch, Extra Large Oval Punch, Word Window Punch, 1/2" circle Punch, heart punch from Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack,  2-3/8 Circle punch - cut into wedge for carrot. Tag is from Chalk Tag Framelits. Whiskers are Whisper Whit Bakers twine - pull apart the strands.
